A good photograph is knowing where to stand.-Ansel Adams

I seem to have spent much of my time taking photographs when standing in the wrong place, if Ansel Adams is to be believed.
This website holds a small collection of sets of images where, maybe my feet were in the right place. The (good) intention is to change the images regularly to keep them fresh. Those of you who run web sites will know that these notions often are abandoned when time presses. Spending hours looking after a web site is not as much fun as taking photographs.

Where possible I hope to include some information about the taking of the images and the reasons behind them - but sometimes you just 'feel' that the camera should capture what is there.

If you wish to contact me about images or the site I can be reached at :

The image is of an Aspen grove in Routt National Forest in Colorado, USA. The groves grow from suckers underground so each grove has a unique genetic signature. The 'eye' patterns on the trunks where side branches have been lost are the same in each grove and each grove is different.
